Many publications offer recommendations about appropriate practices to encourage inclusion of all learners within the general education setting at all levels, from early childhood to postsecondary programs.

How to select, Administer and Evaluate the use of Accommodations for Instruction and Assessment of Students with disabilities (2005)
The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) has produced several guidance documents related to accommodations in the classroom.

Strategies to improve access to the general education curriculum (2005)
This compilation of practices from the ACCESS Center includes computer-assisted instruction (CAI); Concrete, Representations, and Abstract Sequence of Mathematics Instruction (CRA or CSA); Differentiated Instruction; Mnemonics; Peer Assisted Learning Strategies (PALS); professional collaboration; adapted texts; literacy rich environments; grouping strategies; learning strategies; Curriculum-Based Measurement (CBM); and Functional Behavioral Assessment Systems. Each set of practices is described, including the student characteristics that are intended to be addressed, and the ways that access is improved are noted.
